Today’s thoughtful quote comes from Benjamin Franklin. He is best known as one of America’s Founding Fathers, he was a respected inventor, publisher, scientist and diplomat. Even in the 1700’s he knew the value of his time, focusing on the skilled specific aspects of his work.
Do you do the same? We can all be guilty of losing time, especially in business. Have you ever done a review of your time? And then considered what could be outsourced, or how could you be interrupted less to be more productive?
As Benjamin Franklin is our inspiration today, here are a few interesting facts about him…
1. He was so successful in business that he spent half his life in unofficial retirement. In 1723 he was considered poor, but over the next two decades he grew his wealth as a print shop owner, land speculator and publisher of the popular “Poor Richard’s Almanack.”
2. He had two years of formal education. He only attended school briefly, and then helped his father, who was a candle and soap maker.
3. Franklin created a phonetic alphabet. He wanted “to give the alphabet a more natural order.” However it’s publication in 1779 wasn’t so well received, so he stopped using it. This is Perfect Reception’s favourite fact as we use the traditional phonetic alphabet every time we take an email address.
